Many people are now receiving strange links and messages on WhatsApp. Cyber experts warn that hackers are using APK files to break into mobile phones. An APK file is an application file normally used to install apps on Android phones. When someone sends such a file on social media, it may contain harmful software. If you click and install it, hackers can take control of your phone within seconds.
Experts say that in the last few days, several hacking incidents have been reported in Telangana. Hackers send malware in the form of APK files through WhatsApp chats and groups. Once the file is opened, the phone becomes infected. The hackers can then check your messages, read your contacts, and even access your bank apps. In many cases, bank accounts have been emptied after phones were hacked.
There are some simple signs. If your phone is heating up quickly for no reason, or if the battery is draining faster than usual, it may be a warning. If your WhatsApp behaves strangely or you see unknown messages being sent from your number, your phone could be compromised.
Remove the app from your phone without delay.
Download WhatsApp again from the official Play Store and verify your number.
