Andhra King Thaluka Review: Ram Pothineni, lovingly called the energetic star, had been waiting for a substantial comeback since iSmart Shankar sailed into success. In Andhra King Thaluka, he chooses to tread an unusual path—telling the story of a devout fan who lives, breeds, and sleeps for his favorite hero. The buzz around the film added more spice to it, with Ram not only writing lyrics for a song for the very first time but also recording it. Pairing up with Bhagyashree Borse and supported by Upendra, this film promised to serve freshness with emotional content. But does it? Let us take a look.
The story revolves around Surya Kumar (Upendra), a super-duper star who is unable to suddenly fund the making of his 100th flick. Just when all hope seems lost to collect the mandatory sum of rupees 3 crore, enters an unlikely savior in the form of Sagar (Ram Pothineni). He is a young man who hails from some remote Lankan village with no electricity. The real question surrounding this benevolence is: Who is Sagar? What makes him so devoted to Surya Kumar? What is the link between Mahalakshmi (Bhagyashree Borse) and Sagar? The movie provides answers in the atmosphere of nostalgia, rural emotions, and fan emotions.
Andhra King Thaluka distinguishes itself through the setting of a novel negotiation-unreasoning the ardour of a fan instead of the glorification of a hero. The sincerity with which director Mahesh Babu attempts to convey this feeling is laudable, especially in Sagar’s emotional scenes with Surya Kumar. Nonetheless, an almost three-hour-long film would test anyone’s patience since certain sequences appear to be stretched without adding any value.
The logic again leaves much to be desired during some key moments. The Lanka village setting, the construction of a theatre right on the beach, and the characters’ decision-making lose credence in terms of practicality. Strong emotions did help the movie along; however, thanks to the predictable storyline and the absence of strong, impactful twists, the film slipped further and further in ungripped momentum.
On performance, Ram gives his usual act while Bhagyashree adds glamour and charm. Upendra leaves his mark while a few supporting ones by Rao Ramesh and Satya remain underutilised.

Andhra King Thaluka is an emotional effort, with some honest moments. However, it does not become a commercially strong entertainer. Fans may appreciate the sentiment, but the film is quite average.
Andhra King Thaluka makes a good attempt at throwing years of emotion at so very many things but sadly falters owing to some predictability and uneven pacing.
