Dushara Vijayan: After the success of Marco, one of the most violent Malayalam movies, Cubes Entertainments has returned with another ambitious project: Kaattalan. Made by Shareef Muhammad, Antony Varghese Pepe will lead. The disclosure that this would be Dushara Vijayan’s Malayalam debut, a gifted actress from Tamil cinema, has generated great interest in the project.
Because of her strong, naturalistic performances, Dushara has made quite a name for herself in Tamil cinema. She is starting Malayalam film with very lofty hopes. Cubes Her welcome to the Kaattalan team formally via their social media handles was entertainment-driven. Dushara first came to notice for her prominent performance in Sarpatta Parambarai, which earned critical praise. She next played roles in a few big-budget films including Veera Dheera Sooran, Vettaiyan, and Raayan.
Kaattalan’s first-look poster promised a steamy cinema experience. New director Paul George is directing it. The film is being promoted as a great visual extravaganza, and reviews show it will be released in May. The crew filmed elaborate combat scenes in Thailand with a stunt group directed by the famous Ong-Bak action director Kecha Khamphakdee just last week. Notably, Pong—the well-known Ong-Bak elephant—is also featured in the movie.
Apart from Antony Varghese Pepe, Kaattalan comprises a big ensemble of Malayalam and pan-Indian performers including Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, among several others. Important distributor Fars Films has guaranteed the international distribution rights.
With Kecha Khamphakdee doing the action, Ajaneesh Loknath creating the music, Renadive the cinematographic work, and Shameer Muhammed doing the editing, the movie brags of a competent technical team. Kaattalan is ready to be among the year’s most eagerly awaited Malayalam action movies with such a strong team.
