Kalamkaval Day 1 Box Office Collection: Kalamkaval has emerged as one of the most eagerly anticipated Malayalam films of this year. The expected return of Mammootty to theatres after an eight-month gap offered tremendous interest, but his portrayal of a legendary actor in a standout negative role added to the concept of the film in enticing cinephiles. The combination of Mammootty along with Vinayakan and also yet another debutant director added to the growing curiosity of the moviegoers.

Day-One Reception from the Audiences with a Bang

Whenever an industry goliath makes way in the big Malayalam films, the industry shrinks its heads and watches the first impression from an early show of the day. If a film manages on day-one to gain the favour of both the viewers and critics, then all its chance of box-office progress is assured. Kalamkaval had that sort of starting push. Towards the end of the first-day shows, the good word was out with things looking good for the crime drama.

Word of the mass positive reception got onto ticket-booking platforms faster than anybody would have expected. On BookMyShow, bookings were flying at the rate of more than 15,000 tickets an hour-well past huge demand. This prompted theatres around Kerala to open 102 new screens for evening and night shows.

Late-Night Show Boom and Figures at First Box Office

As daytime pushed into evening, the enthusiasm showed no signs of abating. The exhibitor hosted 258 late-night shows in Kerala alone-an incredible feat by any star-driven film’s standard. Early estimates suggest that Kalamkaval has managed to rake in ₹4.86 crore in the opening day collection in the state, according to sources from the trade. Although the precise numbers may go through slight arrivals, the present data projects a loud opening with immense confidence.

Crime Drama from a Promising New Filmmaker

Directed by Jithin K. Jose, who earlier wrote the blockbuster Kurup starring Dulquer Salmaan, Kalamkaval marks his first foray behind the camera. This is the seventh production from the Mammootty Kampany, being distributed in Kerala by Wayfarer Films. The movie saw co-writing by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar and is rated U/A. It is said to contain some of the most unconventional performances seen in Mammootty in recent years.
