Wayfarer Films of Dulquer Salmaan has rightly marked its seventh production, Lokah-Chapter One: Chandra, a 100 amazing days in cinemas. In this day and age of quick OTT transfers and wide releases, such films are few that last for protracted theatrical times- something of a rare accomplishment now. Lokah is included within an elite group of movies that have made amazing audience pull over extended periods.
It includes premium PVR multiplexes in Kerala, which included: Kochi PVR, Forum Mall; PVR Lulu, Thiruvananthapuram; PVR Palaxi, Kozhikode. After the epidemic, there has been no Malayalam film to date that has reached this century mark. Now becomes the first Malayalam film to enter the ₹300-crore club, breaking all records at the box office. Dominic Arun directed and wrote the movie, which made more than ₹121 crore just in Kerala.
After initiating its digital-streaming journey on JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar on October 31, Lokah has also continued on its splendid OTT journey. The film is now available for viewing in eight dubbed versions in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali. Inspired by the famed Kalliyankattu Neeli tale, it stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles in this fantasy drama.
First movie in a deft five-part monumental fantasy cinematic universe is “Lokah- Chapter One: Chandra”. A film featuring brilliant performances by Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharath Sabha, Nishanth Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan, it also features cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas. Lokah-Chapter Two is the second part of the saga, helmed by Tovino Thomas.
With such immense success and incredible world-building, Lokah would have truly earned itself a very strong place among the most significant cinematic achievements of contemporary Malayalam cinema.
