Easy Jowar Roti Recipe for Beginners: Soft, Round & Crack-Free

Easy Jowar Roti Recipe:
Jowar roti is a healthy and gluten-free Indian bread that many people love. It is made from jowar flour, which is also known as sorghum. While jowar roti is very good for digestion and weight control, many people find it hard to make at home. The biggest problem is cracking. The dough often breaks while rolling, and the roti becomes hard after cooking. But with the right method, anyone can make soft and smooth jowar rotis easily.

Easy Jowar Roti Recipe:

One main reason jowar rotis crack is dry dough. Another reason is using cold or warm water instead of hot water. Also, if the dough is not kneaded properly, it will not hold together. Rushing while rolling can also cause cracks. Patience and the right temperature are the real secrets.

To start, take a pan and boil some water. The water must be fully boiling, not just warm. Turn off the flame and slowly add jowar flour to the hot water. Stir continuously so that no lumps form. Mix until it comes together like a sticky dough.

Now allow the dough to cool slightly so that you can touch it. While it is still warm, begin kneading it gently. Knead for about three to four minutes. If the dough feels dry, add a few drops of warm water and continue kneading until it becomes soft and smooth.

Next, divide the dough into small balls. Smooth each ball with your fingers. If you see any cracks, lightly wet your fingers and roll again until the surface becomes even.

Sprinkle some dry jowar flour on a rolling board. Place the dough ball on it and slowly flatten it using your fingers or a rolling pin. Turn it little by little and press gently. If cracks form at the edges, repair them with your fingers.

Heat a tawa on medium flame. Place the rolled roti on it. When bubbles appear, flip it. Press lightly with a cloth so it puffs up. Cook both sides properly.

Always remember to use hot water, keep the dough warm, roll slowly, and cook on medium heat. By following these simple steps, you can enjoy soft, delicious jowar rotis at home every day.
