Akhanda 2 Premier Shows Cancelled Today: The unexpected turn of events regarding the release of Akhanda 2 happened hours before going for a premiere.The Telangana High Court delivered a major ruling, which was intended to be a celebratory evening for Balakrishna fans, but has now become uncertain, leaving thousands confused about whether the show will take place at all.
Recently, the Telangana government issued a special GO with a considerable amount of increase in ticket prices for the premieres of Akhanda 2. The details concerning the price revision include:
₹600 per ticket for premiere shows
₹50 increase in single screen theatres (from Dec 12)
₹100 increase in multiplexes
Validity for three days, covering the premiere and the early shows
This was intended to leverage the huge excitement generated by the film. But the High Court has suspended this GO and declared the temporary hike unconstitutional at this stage. This news was shocking, especially because the government had already sanctioned an 8 PM show for today.
Today, the special premiere show is suspended with the GO being cancelled. Therefore, today was meant to be cancelled, but we are expecting some official announcements from exhibitors. Now, those fans, who paid ₹600 for the premium ticket, are left wondering if the amount will be reimbursed or adjusted.
The uproar hence developed disappointment in Balayya fans, many of whom had their big plans for the special screening of the movie.
The High Court order has particularly affected distributor Dil Raju, who bought the Nizam rights at a price of ₹25 crore, out of which he is alleged to have remitted ₹20 crore as advance. It was assumed by him that the high premium shows would help in his recovery. Now, with the cancellation of the price hike, the film is estimated to have lost around ₹10–15 crore in expected opening revenue.
