Eko Box Office Collection: Director Dinjith Ayyathan’s latest film Eko, completely released in theatres, has been making steady collections at the box office. After accolades for Kishkindha Kaanda, the director joins hands afresh with writer Bahul Ramesh for this unusual thriller, where animals assume mythic importance. It is the first production venture of MRK Jeyaram under the banner of Aaradhya Studios and features rising actor Sandeep Pradeep in the lead role.
Eko started off with fairly low figures of ₹80 lakh on its first day but went up sharply with good word of mouth. Then, on day two, gross earnings at the Kerala box office grew to ₹1.85 crore, an impressive ₹3.15 crore on day three, which happened to be a Sunday.
The all-critical first Monday-a touchstone for most commercial trajectories-turned out quite well. The film netted ₹1.85 crore in India, surpassing its opening-day collection. Trade analysts now put its worldwide gross at ₹13.9 crore, with Eko presenting itself among the promising commercial fare.
Maturely marketing the various aspects of Eko as the conclusive episode of an “animal trilogy,” with the first two-thirds being Kishkindha Kaanda and Kerala Crime Files Season 2, one can say that indeed the three stories lack any real connection but for the manner in which animals influence the storylines immensely. The thematic continuity thus engenders connect the trilogy with certain motifs of crime and morality as well as human-animal interactions.
The hype around Eko was further heightened by the return of Sandeep Pradeep after his success in Padakkalam, keeping the fans waiting in excitement.
The technical crew includes writer-cinematographer Bahul Ramesh, music composer Mujeeb Majeed, editor Suraj E S, production designer Sajeesh Thamarassery, and sound designer Vishnu Govind. Visual effects are done by IVF-X and subtitles by Vivek Ranjit (Break Borders).
The film Eko keeps gaining firm ground with positive momentum and great word of mouth from the audience.
