STRANGER THINGS Season 5 Poster: It is official, the stranger things fans! We are getting the teaser trailer for Stranger Things season 5 today with the confirmation straight from Netflix themselves on social media. Today is the ninth anniversary of the global phenomenon and this poster couldn’t be any more perfect.
It is a wonderful callback to season 1, as it features the four boys( Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas) riding bikes along with Eleven on the back of Mike’s bike. It hits all of the ST fans in their nostalgic memories and strengthens the promise that the Duffer Brothers made about season 5 bridging the entire show together and harkening back to the first season.
Another interesting detail is that Will Byers is leading the gang, which further proves that he will be front and center, and perhaps take on a leadership role that we haven’t seen him do before in the series. Since he is the character whose disappearance started this conflict, it makes sense that he is instrumental in the plot to save Hawkins and the rest of the world from the forces of darkness.
Speaking of which, looking far beyond the young cast in the forefront, we can see Vecna in the form of an ominous cloud looming over them in the background, further emphasizing that the threat of the Upside Down is still very much alive and spreading across Hawkins, which is engulfed in flames and several cracks on the ground. This looks a lot like how things were in Stranger Things 4 when the earthquake struck the small town.
If you look closely at Vecna, you can also see that he has horns. Maybe his body has further mutated since we last saw him in season 4. From the looks of it, Henry Creel has become the devil incarnate.
We can also spot a radio tower, most likely part of the WSQK Radio Station that our gang is using throughout the plot of the final season. Early on last year when Stranger Things 5 was in production, there were reports that parts of the WSQK Radio Station were going to be CGI, which means that what we saw from set photos and videos wasn’t the entire structure. Looking at the poster, it now makes me wonder if part of the station has a massive radio tower onsite created with VFX.
Aside from that, not much else can be deduced from the poster, but the teaser trailer today should hopefully reveal more details. Overall, very exhilarating times!
