‘The Godfather’ Returns to Indian Theatres After 53 Years in Stunning 4K Glory

The Godfather Makes Big-Screen Debut in India

Over five decades after it changed the face of world cinema, The Godfather trilogy is finally making its theatrical debut in India. In a historic first, Indian audiences will get to experience Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary saga fully restored in breathtaking 4K starting this September. The release is being brought to theatres by PVR INOX, which announced the re-release of the trilogy in close succession for the first time in Indian cinema history.


A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity

Calling it a “homecoming for fans and a discovery for the new generation,” PVR INOX’s Lead Strategist Niharika Bijli said, “There is no greater honour than bringing this legendary saga back to our cinemas.”  “For younger audiences, it’s a chance to see what true cinematic greatness looks like. For long-time fans, it’s revisiting an old friend but this time on the big screen, where it belongs,” she added.

What Makes The Godfather a Classic

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel, The Godfather first released in 1972. With iconic performances by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Diane Keaton, the film redefined storytelling and became one of the most celebrated films of all time.


Its sequels, The Godfather Part II (1974) and The Godfather Part III (1990), turned the saga into a cornerstone of American and global cinema.
