The latest entry in Maddock Films’ supernatural universe; “Thamma” directed by Aditya Sarpodar. The film will debut in theaters with a U/A certificate on October 21 and features the film’s centerpiece of on-screen content: thematic genre icons Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana. The cast also includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the main role. Following Maddock’s genre-franchised curve, “Thamma” attempts to wade into action and supernatural territory.
In an interview with a Bollywood media portal, Rashmika Mandanna spoke about her film Thamma regarding it being her first film taking on an action adventure role. “This is my first time crossing the threshold into the action zone. I have done performance-based films prior to this. Even when I was filming Mysskin’s extremely action-based films, Thamma is the first time that gave me the umbrella to try action,” she remarked.
Only then Rashmika created an opportunity to hold on to adequate references for how her character should execute the sequences in the film. “I had no idea how to approach this character. It was a new space for me, and I was excited yet unsure. On the set, I really had to rely on my director and my crew and just follow their guidance. Their support has been really uplifting, and I gave my best,” she said.
The Maddock Film’s supernatural universe begins with Stree and continues on films like Bhediya and Munjiya. Released on August 15, 2024, Stree 2 snatched the glory of being one of the biggest Bollywood hits of the year, crossing over ₹700 crores against a production value of around ₹60 crores. The previous films included Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon star Bhediya and Munjiya were also major hits, thus making the name of the franchise known.
With a total investment of close to ₹300 crores in production, the Maddock universe has already grossed over ₹1,000 crores at the box office. Thamma continues the legacy mixing supernatural concepts with thrilling action, now with Rashmika in the limelight playing her first part with heavy action content.
