School Holiday on Sep 12: September 2025 has brought frequent school holidays across India because of unpredictable monsoon rains and a series of regional festivals. Now, Friday, September 12, 2025, is expected to be another holiday in some parts of the country. While it is not a national holiday, several states may keep schools closed due to safety concerns and local traditions.
Jammu & Kashmir
In Jammu & Kashmir, schools are likely to remain closed in a few districts. The state recently celebrated Eid-e-Milad, and in many areas, the Friday after Eid is treated as an additional holiday. Final decisions will be made by district administrations, so parents are advised to follow local updates.
Punjab
Punjab continues to struggle with heavy monsoon rains and floods. Schools in Jalandhar and nearby districts were already shut on September 11. Authorities may extend the closure to September 12 until roads and school buildings are declared safe. The Education Department has stressed that safety remains the top priority.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Both these hill states have seen repeated disruptions because of landslides and flash floods. Local administrations are closely monitoring weather conditions. If the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues fresh alerts, schools may remain closed on Friday as well.
Other States
So far, no official notification of holidays has come from Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, or other major states. Regular classes are expected to continue unless sudden rainfall forces local administrations to act.
