Mazaka Movie Review:
Comedy drama is a popular genre in Telugu films. Comedy dramas is a super hit formula. While they are minimum guarantee movies, they can turn into blockbusters if a few scenes work. Because of this, a lot of Telugu filmmakers always prefer family dramas with a slice of comedy or action rather than trying other genres. Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina, who has mastered this style, made a few flicks in this zone and succeeded in engaging the family audience. His new venture, Mazaka, released on Maha Shivaratri also falls in the same category. Starring Sundeep Kishan, Rao Ramesh, Ritu Varma, and Anshu in key roles, the film was released amid much expectation. Sundeep, who has been doing some serious movies, chose an out-and-out family drama entertainer for his 30th film. Here’s the Mazaka Movie Review.

Story:
Krishna (Sundeep Kishan) lost his mother during childhood and lives with his father Venkata Ramana (Rao Ramesh). After Krishna completed his B.Tech, his father begins search for the right bride for him. However, it becomes hard for him since there’s no woman in the home. At this stage, in a strange event of turns, Venkata Ramana meets Yasodha (Anshu) and gets attracted to her. On the other hand, Krishna falls head over heels with Meera (Ritu Varma). A twist in the tale troubles their bond and the rest of the story is about the challenges they face because of their relationships. Will destiny favour them? A lot of questions are answered as the story moves at its own pace.

Analysis:
Telugu Cinema has witnessed many stories like this. From Srikanth’s Ma Nannaku Pelli that got released a few decades ago to Chiranjeevi’s Andarivadu, Nara Rohit’s Solo, and Naga Chaitanya’s Shailaja Reddy Alludu, many stories are weaved around this template. However, a film from Trinadha Rao Nakkina guarantees a family entertainer, a section of the audience has been delighted ever since the film announcement was made. Although the first half was full of fun and drama, the second half had nothing new to offer. Despite a lag in the second half, the film picks its pace towards the climax. Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s films are known to have a fabulous background score and cinematography, but this movie lacks both. None of the songs are catchy and impressive. Even the production values don’t seem up to the mark.
As far as the performances are concerned, Sundeep Kishan was okay. Ritu Varma does a good job as always. Ramesh Rao is super impressive with his dialogue delivery and comedy timing. His chemistry with Anshu appeared a little odd. Maybe, senior actors like Srikanth or Jagapathi Babu could have been a better option for this role. Anshu returns after a long time iand s outstanding in her role. Comedy at some places was a misfit.
