Santana Praptirastu Review: The film, named “Santana Praptirastu,” releasing on Children’s Day, attempts to explore something very new in the Telugu film industry, which is male fertility viewed through pristine comedy and emotional sensibility. It is directed by Sanjeev, and the viewers have the expectation from the movie because of producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy’s faith and also because of the glistering initial response from the premiere shows. But what new does this bring to the table of compelling theatrical experiences?
The film revolves around a couple whose lives take a drastic turn after an unexpected revelation from Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary, wherein male fertility forms the crux of the conflict. Then comes a gallivanting mixed-bag mix of embarrassment, societal pressure, family drama, and self-discovery all tied together in situational comedy and soft emotional touches.
The screenplay keeps the mood light, with some comic banter by Vennela Kishore, Abhinav Gomatam, and others to keep things lively. Keeping the context simple, the makers do try to make it relatable and breezy.
The flow in storytelling is really easy and smooth from the beginning until the end. Situational comedy works in most parts, and the first half thus becomes quite enjoyable. Every moment is on screen at its best with Chandini Chowdary’s presence, while Vikranth for the first time has given his very best in portraying the aspect of vulnerability and confusion.
That core conflict brings us back to an unfinished state. Emotional scenes meant to be staged at some turning points in a story don’t hit the impact. A bit more predicted becomes the second half as well as a weakening factor to the last payoff. Although the title has a meaningful subject, sometimes it subsumes a large part under convenience identified with brashness.
On the upside, it’s entertaining enough for the OTT crowd, what with the chemistry between the leads and a comedic ensemble surrounding the protagonists. Its theater paint remains limited, however, due to the stakes and soft emotional arc.
