Double Mohanan, a famous sandalwood smuggler, is played by Prithviraj Sukumaran in the much awaited movie “Vilayath Buddha,” therefore gearing Malayalam cinema for a big theatrical premiere. Tomorrow marks the release of the movie, and early indications show high audience engagement all over the state.
Online sites have opened advance ticket sales for Vilayath Buddha, and the reaction has been quite positive. Expectations have been rising constantly since the trailer revealed a combination of tense action, emotional scenes, and family-centered drama; the movie has gotten a U/A rating.
Directed by Jayan Nambiar, under Urvashi Theatres’ sponsorship, the movie marks a major partnership with Sandeep Senan.
Often referred to as the “golden trees of Kerala,” Marayoor’s well-known sandalwood forests provide the backdrop for several intense, breath-holding scenes hinted at in the teaser. Already a topic of conversation, Double Mohanan’s metamorphosis as Prithviraj suggests a character unlike anything he has tried previously.
In a significant role, experienced actor Shammi Thilakan adds depth to the group cast.
Based on G.R. Indugopan’s widely read book “Vilayath Buddha,” the movie’s screenplay was written by Indugopan himself with Rajesh Pinnadan. Plays the female lead is Priyamvada Krishnan. Online already buzz with posters, teasers, and the greatly liked song “Katturaasa.”
The film boasts a strong technical team with music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Arvind Kashyap and Renadive, and editing by Sreejith Sarang. Every department has excellent industry talent, from VFX to action choreography.
