Vilayath Budha Cast Remuneration: With widespread acclaim and suspicion that an anticipated Malayalam screenplay is about to manifest, Vilayath Budha is a crime drama. Much excitement has been aroused about the kind of budget involved to finance this production and the heavy salaries each of these has to offer to cast members. Actual production costs are, as expected, fairly ambitious from this year’s estimates in Malayalam cinema, being between ₹25 and 30 crores. And presently, it would seem that the focus has switched primarily to Prithviraj, one of the stars who would carry the story and the finances of the film by virtue of his presence.
Prithviraj Sukumaran was allotted a major portion of the budget as he portrays Mohanan in a double role. His remuneration range of ₹8 – 10 million would account for almost one-third of the total cost involved in the project. It stands for his position in the industry and it treats the film pitched on his viewership and commercial viability. Other than Prithviraj, the remaining portion of the budget is shared across the main cast along with the technical crew and work that involves production. Since the filming locations are dense forest terrains, those costs would increase regarding cinematography, lighting, safety measures and extended schedule management, and so forth. Music, post-production, and marketing would be other important areas considered in the budget.
Prithviraj Sukumaran: Double Mohanan (Lead): ₹8-10 crore 30% of budget, receiving the highest remuneration.
Tejeenthan Arunasalam: Supporting Role: ₹1-1.5 crore Tamil actor debuting in Malayalam and earning fat.
Anu Mohan: Supporting Role: ₹40-60 lakhs Usually falls in the remuneration range for mid-level Malayalam actors.
Dhruvan: Supporting Role: ₹30-40 lakhs. Good character actor is doing okay.

Shammi Thilakan: Character Role: ₹25-30 lakhs An elder actor, whose character presence is fairly important.
Kottayam Ramesh: Supporting Role: ₹20-25 lakhs Average remuneration for a senior supporting actor.
Vinod Thomas: Supporting Role: ₹15-20 lakhs Minor but crucial part in the story.
Rajashree Nair: Supporting Role: According to the usual pay range accorded to female supporting actors, earns around ₹10-15 lakhs.
The normal remuneration structure of Vilayath Budha has been the usual economic model of Malayalam cinema; indeed, he has been the star above most on most detractors, while the supporting actors only receive these mediocre regular amounts. Prithviraj’s remuneration comes in fact close to the ceiling, thereby putting him up as one of the top-paid in the industry; the remainder of the budget spent on the other cast members fits very nicely within a mid-budget framework.
