India pulled off a stunning six-run win over England in the fifth and final Test at The Oval, ending the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2. England, chasing 374, fell agonisingly short despite centuries from Harry Brook and Joe Root. Mohammed Siraj starred with a fiery spell on Day 5, picking up three quick wickets and finishing with a five-wicket haul.
England began the final morning needing 35 runs with two wickets in hand. Jamie Overton hit back-to-back boundaries early, but Siraj quickly changed the game. He removed Jamie Smith and trapped Overton LBW in successive overs. After Prasidh Krishna yorked Josh Tongue, a one-handed Chris Woakes bravely walked out to bat. But Siraj sealed the win by dismissing Gus Atkinson, sparking wild celebrations.
England looked on course to pull off a record chase at The Oval. Brook smashed a 98-ball 111, his second century of the series, and added 195 runs with Root. The veteran anchored the innings with a composed hundred. But India stormed back late on Day 4 as Krishna removed both Bethell and Root in quick succession.

India’s Fightback Began on Day 4
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 118 and Washington Sundar’s quick 53 helped India post 396 in their second innings, setting England a massive 374. No team had ever chased that many at The Oval. Siraj and Krishna led India’s charge on Day 4, removing key batters like Duckett, Pope, and Root. Despite a rain delay, India returned on Day 5 with energy and fire, sealing a famous win.
