Xiaomi just released the Smart Door Lock M40. It features a 4.94-inch display for easy viewing. This lock uses AI to spot threats outside your door. It keeps intruders away and alerts you instantly.
The lock has two smart cameras built in. The main one is 3MP with 175-degree wide view. The secondary camera offers 2MP and 128-degree angle. AI detects people, packages, and odd movements fast.
Use the peephole camera to check visitors. It gives panoramic views without opening the door. See everything clearly, even in total darkness. Six infrared lights enable night vision modes.
Receive alerts in real-time on your smartphone, and begin video calls with anyone outside. HyperOS connects to your Xiaomi devices, which can be connected to lights, air conditioning units or on the screen of your car.
The lock automatically locks the door whenever you leave. It has a backup C-grade mechanical cylinder in case of malfunction. Even if the panel does malfunction, the lock will still work. They’ve included a safety chipset to block any hacking and tampering.
The front panel measures 431 x 98 x 46 millimeters, while the rear panel measures 421 millimeters in height. It weighs only 5.18 kilograms which helps with installation. Internal sensors also increase durability then the lock is being used regularly.
It contains an 8000mAh battery that lasts for months. It can handle temperatures from -10 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. Additionally, remote access can be done via the app from anywhere. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity should be seamless.
The M40 is able to unlock with face recognition quite quickly. You can also, scan your fingerprint or a NFC card in addition to entering codes with the physical key or with the app. Finally, Bluetooth can unlock a phone app.
The M40 is listed at 3,299 yuan (about 464 USD). In India, expect it to be listed somewhere in the vicinity of 38,000 rupees soon. For its availability, you can buy it now at Xiaomi’s site or JD.com.
