There is a new humanoid robot called Neo that can do your household chores. It can clean your home and make your meals. This robot can also bring you objects. It will even talk to you. Neo is a smart helper created by 1X Technologies. This company is American-Norwegian and is trying to set a new standard for home help.
Neo will cost approximately twenty thousand dollars or about 16 lakh Indian rupees. You can already pre-order the robot with a small refundable deposit. Neo also has a monthly subscription plan. Deliveries will begin in the U.S. in 2026 and after that, in 2027 for other countries.
Neo weighs only thirty kilograms but can lift an object weighing up to sixty-eight kilograms. It wears a soft knitted suit made of tan, gray, and dark brown colors. The robot moves very naturally and fluidly, as a tendon drive system was designed for that purpose. Each hand functions with twenty-two degrees of freedom for any delicate or precise function.
Neo is quieter than your refrigerator. Its operating sound is twenty-two decibels. You can link Neo to your smart home easily. It operates over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a 5G network. This makes it easy to connect and communicate with your devices.
Neo contains a large language model. This AI understands your spoken commands. The robot also has natural conversations. You may hear Neo listen for its name in the background. Once it recognizes its name, you can request its help. Neo also has visual intelligence. It can recognize common objects in your kitchen and may even suggest ideas for meals!
A feature called Expert Mode is designed to help Neo learn from experience. It engages with tasks it has never done before. A remote expert from 1X can then take control remotely. This happens only when you give full consent. The purpose of Expert Mode is to ensure Neo will complete a novel job it has not done in the past.
Accessing Expert Mode raises certain privacy and security concerns. An outside person can observe activities within the home. 1X is committed to ensuring security controls will be in place to prevent any unauthorized activities.
Neo will be capable of doing several useful household chores. For instance, it folds laundry and cleans surfaces. Neo can move things from one room to another and even turn off lights. It memorizes your daily routines and your grocery list. Neo also has memory for special dates, like your birthday. Every time you update the software on Neo, it will remember more activities in the home.
