Bank Holidays This Week:

People who use bank services regularly should always know about upcoming bank holidays. When we know the holiday dates in advance, it becomes easy to plan our banking work like cash withdrawals, deposits, cheque clearance or visiting the bank for any personal work. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of holidays for December, and the next week will have multiple holidays in different parts of the country.

According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain closed every Sunday, and on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. These holidays are common across India. Apart from these, RBI also recognises several regional holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act. These holidays change from state to state depending on local festivals, elections and other important regional events.

For the upcoming week between December 8 and 14, banks will be closed for a total of four days in different regions. Two of these are fixed holidays — the second Saturday and Sunday. The other two holidays apply only to certain cities based on local events.

On Tuesday, December 9, banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed due to the 2025 local government elections in Kerala. Except for these cities, banks across the rest of India will function normally on that day.

Another regional holiday falls on Friday, December 12, but only for the Shillong region in Meghalaya. The holiday is declared to observe the death anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma. Banks in the rest of the country, including metros, will work as usual.

On December 13, the second Saturday of the month, all banks across India will be closed. This will be followed by the regular Sunday holiday on December 14.

RBI has listed a total of 18 bank holidays for December 2025. Christmas will be a nationwide holiday, while other holidays apply only to specific states such as Panaji, Aizawl and Shillong.

For customers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, there are no additional bank holidays in the coming week except the routine Saturday and Sunday. People can visit banks on all working days without any inconvenience.\
