School Holiday on November 14: States Release Updated Closure List

School Holiday on November 14:

Many students and parents woke up confused on November 14 as several states declared a public holiday, while others followed a normal working day. The holiday list created a buzz because it varied from state to state, leading many to search for official updates.

School Holiday on November 14:

In Telangana, government schools remained closed on November 14. The state followed its academic calendar marking the day as a holiday. Private schools also followed the same schedule. Parents welcomed the break, especially because many schools had completed exam sessions. Hyderabad children enjoyed a mid-week off as parks, local events, and play areas saw more visitors.

While Telangana enjoyed the break, Andhra Pradesh schools stayed open. The state did not include November 14 in its holiday list. Students attended regular classes and schools continued academic activities as usual. Parents in Andhra Pradesh expressed confusion online after seeing neighbouring states observe a holiday. Education officials clarified that the state had no notified holiday on November 14 and the regular timetable would continue.

Some states developed their own list of optional holidays, including those related to local festivals, regional events, or school-specific calendars. In Karnataka, several schools reported a “holiday mood” because many parents assumed a day off, but education authorities confirmed normal working hours. Schools marked attendance and continued lessons without any changes.

Tamil Nadu also continued regular school operations. Schools in Chennai and nearby districts worked without interruption, as the state did not declare a special holiday. Teachers continued pre-exam preparation sessions, and students attended classes with full schedules. Officials reminded parents to cross-check only with the school’s academic calendar and not rely on social media posts.

Across the country, November 14 created mixed responses. Some states gave students a break, while others maintained routine classes. The difference in holiday lists once again highlighted how each state decides its own education calendar. Parents were advised to verify updates through official school notices and state education portals to avoid confusion in the future.
