Telangana Declares School Holidays on Feb 26, 27: Find Out Why

Telangana Declares School Holidays: All government and private schools in Telangana will remain closed on February 27 due to the festival of Maha Shivaratri. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh. Polling will be held on February 27 and counting of votes will take place on March 3. Elections will be held for East and West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur Graduates constituencies. As well as Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatnam Teachers constituencies. Schools and colleges will remain closed in these areas.


Why Schools Remains Closed

Last year, educational institutions were closed on August 2 due to Shivaratri. After District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma declared a local holiday in Gautam Buddh Nagar. At the moment, there is no update on school closure for the next week. Maha Shivaratri, one of the most celebrated festivals of India is a Hindu festival. It is celebrated annually in honour of Lord Shiva. The festival is usually celebrated when It falls on the 13th night and 14th day of the lunar month of Phalguna.

Along with educational institutions in Telangana, other offices will remain closed to have a maximum voting percentage. This holiday is part of the Election Commission’s efforts to make the electoral process more accessible, democratic, and inclusive. The February 27 holiday serves to remind the people of Andhra Pradesh about the importance of their role in the democratic process.
