YS Sharmila Blames TDP, Fires on YSRCP on Polavaram

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President YS Sharmila took to X and hit out at TDP and YSRCP for spreading lies in the assembly. Furthermore, She accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of deliberately hiding the truth and spreading misinformation about decreasing the height of the Polavaram project.

Why TDP Compromises on Polavaram? In a lengthy tweet, she accused the TDP of several issues related to the project. “The TDP government is saying blatant lies in the assembly. Polavaram is not just a multipurpose irrigation project but a lifeline. You took life out of it. The actual design has many alterations. You reduced the height and limited the storage capacity from 194 TMC to 114 TMC. A plotted attempt to dodge YSR’s goal of stabilizing 22 lakh acres of old dam and irrigating 8 lakh acres of new barrier is visible. YSR wanted to build the project at 45.72 meters in height, but you are reducing it to 41.15 meters. Why is it made into a mini reservoir limited to storing water?” she said.

Release a Statement – “The Congress party demands the government for sharing lies and misinformation. Although the Center approves the budget estimate of Rs.30,436 crores for a height of 41.15 meters, why do you claim you will build at 45.72 meters? Why can’t you release a statement from the Central government if it is true? Release the new DPR immediately. Call all parties and tell the truth. If rehabilitation measures exceed Rs.30 thousand crores, what is your action plan?” Sharmila demanded.

YSRCP has No Moral Right – She also took a dig at her brother and YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy. “The YCP party has no morals to talk about the Polavaram project anymore. They have no right to even utter the name of Late Rajasekhar Reddy. Polavaram project is synonymous with YSR. What have you done in your 5 years of administration? Don’t you know that Polavaram was YSR’s life ambition? Why did you agree to the proposal to reduce the project’s height from 45.72 meters to 41.15 meters while in power? Is it not you who asked the Prime Minister to release funds to the extent of 41.15 m? The Polavaram authority report clearly said that because of your poor decisions, the diaphragm wall was washed away by floods” Sharmila slammed YS Jagan.

“The Polavaram project was destroyed in the name of reverse tendering. By reducing the capacity of the right and left canals, the great leader’s ambitions were thwarted. If Chandrababu is a partner in the conspiracy to derail the Polavaram project, Jagan Mohan Reddy is the perpetrator”, YS Sharmila criticized both Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the Polavaram project will be completed by 2027. He said, “Construction of new diaphragm wall will begin in January 2025 and will be completed by March 2026; the previous YSRCP dispensation’s incompetence has affected the project’s progress and caused massive loss to the State.

Polavaram is a long-awaited dream of AP people, and they want it to be completed as soon as possible.
