The state budget for 2025–2026 is being presented to the Assembly today (March 19, 2025). It is presented by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the deputy chief minister and finance minister of Telangana. The budget for this year is anticipated to surpass Rs 3 lakh crore for the first time, with a possible total of Rs 3.2 lakh crore.
Officials have had to strike a difficult balance between obtaining money for significant welfare programs and guaranteeing funds for urgent commitments. With just two months remaining in the fiscal year, the Comptroller and Auditor General’s interim data indicates that overall receipts came to Rs 1.82 lakh crore or roughly 66.57% of the expected Rs 2.74 lakh crore for 2024–2025.
While controlling budgetary restrictions, the emphasis will probably be on infrastructure, social welfare, and economic growth.
Koti Women’s University has been renamed in honor of the fearless warrior Chakali Ailamma in recognition of Telangana’s women. Rs 550 crore has been set aside for new infrastructure while maintaining its legacy.
In gurukuls, welfare hostels, and Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools, the deputy chief minister announced a 200% rise in cosmetic fees and a 40% increase in diet fees. Additionally, all government-run educational institutions will receive free electricity from the government.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the importance of education in social development and said that it is the key to giving impoverished children a better future.“Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s educational ideal is almost here. By authorizing Rs 11,600 crore for 58 Young India Integrated Residential Schools around the state, our government has made history,” he declared. He also promised that every constituency would see the establishment of at least one such school to offer underprivileged pupils a top-notch education.
The government has set out Rs 23,108 crore for the Education Department in the fiscal year 2025–2026.
