The Revanth Reddy government has taken a key decision on the online betting issue that has become a sensation in Telangana. In the context of the current assembly sessions, CM Revanth Reddy made a key announcement in the assembly on the issue of these betting apps. CM Revanth Reddy responded to the issues raised by former Minister Harish Rao on Telangana Home Ministry, Law and Order, online betting, and gaming apps. Speaking on the occasion, CM Revanth Reddy reminded that the Telangana government had imposed a ban on online betting and gaming apps in 2021. However, he said the ban was not being implemented due to a lack of proper action. That is why, he said, several incidents have taken place in the state recently.
CM Revanth Reddy clarified that the Congress government is acting strictly on the incidents that have come to light in the last few days. CM Revanth Reddy said that it has been decided to form a Special Investigation Team to curb betting games like online rummy.
Revanth Reddy explained that cases have been registered and investigated against those who promoted online betting apps in the last few days. However, he believed that filing cases and investigating against those who promote betting apps would not solve the problem. He said that in order to take strict action against those who run these betting apps, it is necessary to investigate many people and the government needs all the powers for this.
Therefore, CM Revanth Reddy told the Assembly that the government has decided to form a special investigation team to investigate these betting apps. CM Revanth Reddy also said that an amendment bill will be introduced in the House in the coming sessions to increase the punishment for those operating online betting apps.
