Prime Minister’s visit to Thailand and Sri Lanka

Prime Minister’s visit: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Thailand and Bangkok at the invitation of the Thailand Prime Minister H.E. Paetongtarn Shinawatra. PM Modi will visit Thailand from 3 to 4 April 2025. The reason behind the PM’s visit is to participate in the 6th NIMSTEC Summit, which will take place on 4th April 2025. The summit will be hosted by Thailand because of its current status as BIMSTEC Chair. This will mark PM Modi’s third visit to Thailand.

BIMSTEC Summit

After the 4th BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2018, this marks the first physical meeting. The last BIMSTEC Summit held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in March was in a virtual format. The theme for the 6th BIMSTEC Summit was Prosperous, Resilient, and Open.

The leaders are expected to address different institutional and capacity-building measures to maintain collaboration within the BIMSTEC framework. India has been active in taking several initiatives in BIMSTEC to maintain partnerships and cooperation, which will further enhance security. This initiative helps in establishing physical and digital collaborations, including energy, food, human security, and climate.
