400 Acres in HCU:

Government Clarifies Ownership

The land in question is located in Kanchanagachibowli close to HCU. Telangana government clarified that this land belongs to the state and is not forest land. The affidavit clearly mentioned that these 400 acres were never listed in forest records.

Background of the Dispute

A controversy started when bulldozers leveled the land near HCU. The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) planned to auction this land to generate revenue. The land was originally allotted to IMG Bharata in 2004 but the allotment was canceled in 2006. Later, legal disputes followed. The High Court ruled in favor of the state, making the land officially government property.

Supreme Court Intervenes

During the auction preparation, the leveling of land caused protests. The environmental impact and tree felling drew attention. Ongoing environmental case hearings made the Supreme Court notice the unrest in Hyderabad. The bench led by Justice B.R. Gavai asked the High Court Registrar to submit a report.

Court Orders and Key Questions

Based on that report, which highlighted tense conditions at the site, the Supreme Court ordered a stay on all activities. It also directed the Chief Secretary to submit a complete affidavit on five specific issues by April 16.

Environmental Concerns Raised

The Supreme Court asked key questions. It wanted to know why urgent development activities were started. It asked if the government had permission under forest and local laws for cutting trees. It also demanded proof of environmental impact assessment.

Government Response

Telangana government responded by stating the land is not forest area. The affidavit confirmed the land is under the ownership of the state. It assured the court that the land does not fall under any restricted category.

Case Still Under Review

This issue remains under legal review. The final outcome will depend on the court’s examination of all documents and facts submitted.
