Etihad: Media reports say Etihad Airways placed a major order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft. US President Donald Trump announced the deal during his trip to three Gulf nations, marking a significant boost for American businesses.
The order includes the latest Boeing 777X aircraft and Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Etihad will equip these planes with a services package and power them with GE engines. The airline plans to start adding the aircraft to its fleet in 2028.
New Aircraft in Trump Gulf Visit
Etihad Airways said the new aircraft will enhance passenger satisfaction, efficiency, and connectivity. The UAE airline stated that it has been gradually expanding its fleet since 2023 as part of a long-term plan to double in size by 2030.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad, told Gulf News, “This dedication reflects our strategy to closely manage our fleet and grow according to demand and our long-term network plans.” The airline also said it is preparing a detailed plan to guide its operations and goals through 2035.
Etihad Orders $14.5B Worth Boeing Jets
The statement said the additional Boeing aircraft will form part of the evolving roadmap, helping the airline deliver extraordinary customer experiences and remain financially self-sustainable.
The White House stated that Boeing and GE will benefit from Etihad’s $14.5 billion aircraft contract, according to agency reports. The statement also comes amid growing speculation about Etihad Airways’ possible IPO. Reports say the airline has strengthened its market position through strong recent financial performance and ongoing efforts to upgrade its fleet and routes.
