Telangana to Recheck 1L Ration Cards After Centre’s Alert

1L Ration Cards: Nearly one lakh ration cards have been identified by the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), Government of India, and the state government has started a particular effort to check them.

Officials say that to determine if the owners of these suspected cards are eligible to receive benefits under the National Food Security Act, the authorities have started field-level verification.

Verify 1L Ration Cards:

To eliminate duplicate or ineligible entries from the Public Distribution System (PDS), the Union government flagged the food security cards. The national database examination will cover more than 1.6 lakh beneficiaries with flagged food security cards.

One senior official told the media, ‘Aadhaar records of invalid or deceased people, duplicate beneficiaries registered in different states, age discrepancies (such as people over 100 or minors under 18 listed as single-member households), and inactive ration cards unused for more than six months are some examples of the flagged food security cards.’

According to the official, the government will complete the verification procedure and submit a report to the Union government. The Civil Supplies department provided data that divides the food security cards into three categories: AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana), PHH (Priority Household), and the less popular AAP (Annapurna) plan. The state has a total of 91,44,636 active ration cards, including 5,66,241 AAY cards, 85,73,012 PHH cards, and 5,383 AAP cards. The state has 3,00,24,937 beneficiaries in total.
