AP Cabinet Meet Highlights: In the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting held on May 20, 2025, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made several important decisions. One of the main issues discussed was the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the previous government. CM Chandrababu strictly told the ministers not to speak publicly about this issue. He said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is handling the probe seriously and fairly and there should be no interference.
Chandrababu also advised his ministers not to react to media reports regarding the liquor scam. He warned that any unnecessary comments could create confusion and affect the investigation. He stressed that the agencies should be allowed to work independently.
In the meeting, CM also mentioned that the next cabinet meeting will focus on the government’s achievements in the past year and people’s feedback.
The cabinet also discussed problems faced by tobacco farmers, especially those growing Black Burley tobacco. Two new ministers, Gottipati Ravi and Nimmala Ramanaidu, were added to the price-fixing committee.
Regarding ration delivery, the cabinet decided to stop the use of MDUs (Mobile Delivery Units) and return the vehicles to their owners after repaying loans. From now on, ration rice will be distributed only through ration shops. For disabled people and senior citizens, ration will be delivered to their homes. Some ministers raised concerns that rice was being smuggled through MDUs.
The CM also discussed revenue-related issues and said progress reports should be submitted every three months. He directed that the “Talli Ki Vandhanam” scheme should be implemented in June when schools reopen.
He also questioned ministers about their involvement in gas cylinder distribution. When no one responded positively, CM said he himself would continue visiting homes and urged ministers to do the same.
Lastly, Chandrababu suggested creating one university for each district. Plans were announced to set up Ambedkar Open University in Eluru and Telugu University in Rajahmundry. The CM also mentioned plans to work with the Central Government for farmer welfare schemes.
This cabinet meeting focused on transparency, governance, and improving people’s welfare.
