Fake CMO Email Scam:

In a shocking cybercrime case, Hyderabad police arrested a man who was pretending to be an officer from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The man created fake email IDs and WhatsApp accounts using the names of real government officials and asked businessmen for money.

The arrested person is Buddumuuru Nagaraju, a former cricketer from Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district. According to Hyderabad Cyber Crime officials, he sent emails and made calls to many businesspeople pretending to be an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) from the CMO.

Using this false identity, Nagaraju reportedly demanded money from several high-profile individuals, including Aravind Sanka (MD of Rapido), Srinivas Gupta (Chairman of Gupta Realty), Krishnamohan Bollineni (MD of Beccam Infra), and Chandrasekhar and Nithin Kaushal from Country Delight. Once they realized it was a scam, they immediately informed the Cyber Crime police.

The real OSD from CM Revanth Reddy’s office filed a formal complaint. Police gathered technical evidence and tracked down Nagaraju. They arrested him on Thursday. Police confirmed that he has a criminal history, with 39 previous cases in both Telugu states.

This incident shown the growing danger of cybercrime and how some fraudsters are using fake identities to cheat people. Police have warned the public to be careful when they receive suspicious emails or messages, especially those claiming to be from government offices.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are trying to find out if more people were cheated by Nagaraju. The police have also urged citizens to report any similar suspicious messages immediately to prevent such scams.
