KTR: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) finds itself in the middle of a silent political storm. As working president, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) appears to tighten his grip on the party. With party patriarch K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) stepping back from daily affairs, insiders confirm that KTR is preparing to take full control. Talk within party circles hints that KTR may soon assume the role of state president, while KCR might focus on a national role.
Kavitha OBC’s Campaign:
Amid the leadership shift within BRS, KCR’s daughter Kavitha reignited her political ambitions shortly after securing bail in the Delhi liquor policy case. Wasting no time, she aggressively toured various districts in recent weeks, championing the rights of OBCs and women. However, her renewed presence has reportedly sparked discomfort among the BRS leadership, particularly with working president KTR.
According to party insiders, KTR sees Kavitha’s political resurgence as a direct challenge to his authority. He allegedly holds her legal controversies responsible for BRS’s disastrous performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The growing tension became evident during the party’s silver jubilee rally, while KCR and KTR’s images dominated the promotional material, Kavitha was conspicuously absent, a move seen as a deliberate snub.
Samajika Telangana Campaign:
Kavitha ignored the criticism and intensified her campaign for “Samajika Telangana” (Social Telangana), demanding justice for the underprivileged and condemning earlier policies. On May Day, she declared, “We built geographical Telangana, but failed to deliver social justice,” putting KTR in a politically awkward position as he now has to tread carefully to avoid upsetting OBC voters.
KTR allegedly instructed district party leaders to skip Kavitha’s public events. Local BRS leaders stayed away from her recent visits to Kamareddy and Mulug, a sharp contrast to earlier occasions when they welcomed and supported her presence.

Kavitha Open Challenge:
Kavitha openly linked to a smear campaign against her and threatened to take revenge as rumors of an internal power struggle grew. “I spent six months behind bars. “Don’t push me further,” she cautioned, vowing to reveal the people generating the unfavorable stories. BRS is going through a difficult time since KCR is quiet, and the top leadership is split. The future of the party will still be determined by whether KTR can gain more support without upsetting important groups or if Kavitha emerges as a rival force.
