Patna Airport Terminal Inauguration: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu attended the event. The new terminal, built for ₹1,200 crore, spans over 65,000 square meters and can serve up to one crore passengers annually.
The terminal features modern amenities including 54 check-in counters, five aerobridges, eight X-ray baggage scanners, five luggage conveyor belts, a multi-level parking facility, a VIP lounge, and a cafeteria. This development greatly improves air travel facilities in Bihar.
Modi shared pictures of the terminal and wrote, “Patna airport gets a modern terminal building! This is great news for Bihar’s progress. Here are some glimpses from the new terminal.”
Along with inaugurating the terminal, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport. The ₹1,410 crore project will serve the expanding residential and educational zones around Patna. After completion, the Bihta civil enclave will ease congestion at Patna Airport and improve regional connectivity.After the inauguration, the Prime Minister led a roadshow in Patna that passed through key city locations such as Sheikhpura, Rajvanshinagar, and the I-T roundabout. Local organizations and volunteers set up stages and canopies along the route to welcome him.
These developments reflect the government’s broader plan to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity across India. Both the new terminal and the upcoming Bihta project aim to make travel more convenient and efficient for people in Bihar.During his visit to Bihar, PM Modi also laid foundation stones for several other projects in Karakat, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the state’s growth and modernization.
