Ahilyabai Holkar’s Legacy: The birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, a Maratha queen from the 18th century who made significant contributions to society and religion, has recently become a crucial day on the Indian political calendar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to Bhopal on Saturday to commemorate Ahilyabai’s 300th birthday. At the city’s Jamburi Maidan, he attended the “Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan,” a women’s empowerment event. There, he presented the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to an artist who has significantly influenced tribal, folk, and traditional arts, as well as he released a commemorative coin and postage stamp in the queen’s honor.
