Karol Nawrocki: According to a number of reports citing the final vote tally on Monday, conservative Karol Nawrocki emerged victorious in Poland’s presidential election.

In a close contest, liberal Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski received 49.11 percent of the vote, while Nawrocki received 50.89 percent. Andrzej Duda, a conservative whose second and final term ends on August 6, will be replaced by Nawrocki. In the Polish political system, the prime minister is chosen by the parliament and has the majority of daily authority. But the president’s job is more than just ceremonial. The office has the authority to veto laws and affect foreign policy.

Who is Karol Nawrocki?
Nawrocki, a conservative historian and heavyweight boxing champion, is a right-wing contender. In the presidential election, US President Donald Trump supported him. He is expected to become the next president of Poland after winning the polls. After making a quick visit to Trump in the Oval Office last month, Nawrocki reportedly received assistance from the White House. US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem encouraged Poles to support Nawrocki during a visit to Poland last week in order to guarantee that Poland maintains tight relations with Trump.

As part of its drive for a new beginning, the Law and Justice party recruited 42-year-old former boxer Nawrocki. The party ruled Poland from 2015 to 2023, when Donald Tusk’s centrist alliance took charge. The Institute of National Remembrance, which promotes nationalist historical narratives, is the organization that Nawrocki most recently led. According to media sources, Russia placed him on a wanted list after he spearheaded attempts to demolish Soviet Red Army monuments in Poland.

Defender of Polish values:
According to media sources, Nawrocki positions himself as an advocate for historic Polish values. His admirers say he represents traditional, patriotic ideals. Many who reject secular tendencies, such as LGBTQ visibility, welcome him because they see him as a defender of the conservative values they were raised with. Nawrocki expresses skepticism about the EU and opposes Ukraine joining NATO.

Nawrocki’s Criminal Links:
The study also stated that Nawrocki’s alleged involvement in a bloody street fight and past ties to criminals cast doubt on his candidacy. Although Nawrocki admits he participated in ‘noble’ battles, he denies any criminal connections. Many right-wing voters, who view the accusations as politically motivated, have not let these findings sway their support.
