US President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has a strong leadership, Some people do not agree with this, making indirect comments aimed at India. It is known that Trump has boasted that he was the one who calmed down the India-Pakistan tensions and that he was the one who signed the ceasefire agreement between the two countries. However, India has already clarified that no one had a role in this agreement. However, Trump is claiming that he stopped the war. Recently, he took another step forward and said that the leadership in Pakistan is strong. He expressed frustration that India is not recognizing him for stopping the war.
Trump said, “Pakistan has a very strong leadership. Some people don’t like me saying this. But it’s true. They (India-Pakistan) stopped that war. I’m very proud of them. But did I get recognition? No. They don’t give me any recognition.” Trump, however, did not mention India directly by name, but spoke about the ceasefire that took place on May 10. Trump said that Pakistan responded to his peace appeal after India took military action in response to the terror attack. But India did not recognize his efforts.
India has been saying that there was no foreign intervention in the matter. It has made it clear that India launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The ceasefire was unilateral and no one was involved in it, it said.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is on a diplomatic tour to expose Pakistan’s deceit on the world stage over Operation Sindoor, has been stating India’s stance on the issue. “We have been making it clear from the beginning that India has no interest in continuing the tensions. Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the provocations of terrorists. It has nothing to do with the ceasefire,” he clarified.
Trump claimed that he stopped a nuclear war between the two countries after the ceasefire agreement was reached between India and Pakistan. “This is a deal that I am very proud of. Here we are dealing with India and Pakistan. We were able to stop a nuclear war through trade, not bullets,” Trump said at a special event held earlier this month.
Trump’s comments are being strongly criticized in Indian political circles. The opposition is questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence. On the other hand, government officials are dismissing Trump’s claims.
