AP Govt 1st Anniversary: Top 5 Initiatives by Chandrababu Naidu That Transformed Telugu States

AP Govt 1st Anniversary: Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who was the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh and subsequently Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation, is most attributed with Telugu states’ modernisation in infrastructure and governance. Being promoted as a technology-driven, developmental-oriented leader, Naidu has been at the forefront of many schemes that have contributed significantly to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the long term. Five of his most successful schemes are listed below:

1. Cyberabad – Hyderabad’s IT Emergence

Perhaps Naidu’s most foresighted action was to build Cyberabad, the IT hub of Hyderabad. In his time during the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had attracted the world’s biggest technology giants such as Microsoft to establish their presence in the city. Currently, Hyderabad ranks among India’s top technology hubs, and Naidu’s early investments paved the way for it.

2. Road and Infrastructure Focus

World-class infrastructure, especially highways and district connectivity, was the focus of Naidu. Four-lane highways, improved drainage, and urban planning rationalized the cities of many Telugu state cities, such as Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

3. e-Governance Revolution

Much before “Digital India” became a national phenomenon, Naidu introduced e-governance in Andhra Pradesh. MeeSeva (citizen services) and real-time governance streamlined the public face with government infrastructure and contributed to greater transparency.

4. Amaravati – The Vision for the New Capital

Naidu suggested Amaravati as the capital city after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. It had an international architects’ master plan and smart city elements and wanted to be a model capital. Although later postponed, the idea was a daring step towards reconstructing the state.

5. Agricultural Reforms and Farmer Welfare

Naidu also introduced some agricultural-based policies, such as micro-irrigation programs, drip irrigation subsidies, and farm practice modernization. Such measures came at the right time to assist farmers to withstand droughts as well as low yields.
