Andhra Sets Two World Records in Yoga and Surya Namaskaram

Andhra’s Two World Records: The TDP-led NDA government is actively working to break the previous attendance record as part of its grand celebration of International Yoga Day on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the record-breaking attempt and took part in the festivities at RK Beach in the port city of Visakhapatnam. Standing on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, he joined thousands of enthusiastic participants in performing yoga.

This year, Yoga Day carries the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” a message embraced by several nations around the world. With this global focus in mind, the southern state aims to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by organizing the world’s largest yoga session. This is also showcasing both the power of collective wellness and India’s cultural legacy.

Andhra’s Two World Records in Yoga:

Vizag aims to set a Guinness World Record by gathering five lakh individuals for a single yoga class at one location. In comparison, the NDA alliance government in Gujarat’s Surat previously set the bar with 1.47 lakh participants during the 2023 International Yoga Day event. Now, with a renewed push, Andhra Pradesh hopes to surpass that milestone.

According to officials, by 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, 1.5 lakh yoga volunteers had already arrived in Vizag, and they expected even more by 7 a.m. Building on this massive turnout, the Telugu state also plans to conduct yoga sessions at over one lakh locations across Andhra Pradesh on the same day. At each venue, at least two core participants will anchor the sessions, helping to drive consistency and engagement statewide. In a separate achievement, 25,000 tribal children set a Guinness World Record on Friday for the “most people” performing Suryanamaskar (sun salutations) simultaneously at a single location. Through these large-scale efforts, the state is not only aiming for records but also promoting health, unity, and the global importance of yoga.
