De De Pyar De 2 Review: Everybody waits for De De Pyaar De 2 as the prequel did a really great job in making people laugh, keeping it mature, and making family equations quite complex, all melded into one film. These two persons once again are back with a fresh story, along with the power-packed performers R. Madhavan, Meezaan Jaffrey, and Javed Jaffrey. The relationships change, and the family structure is reversed in the sequel, which is trying to add to the emotional universe of the original, even though it is trying to recreate its charm.
Ashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn) flying down from London with fresh confidence in his unconventional relationship toapproach the family of his much younger girlfriend Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) initiates what begins as a nervous but innocuous attempt to win approval. Ashish is discovered to have an even younger father than him when Ayesha’s father Rajji is disclosed (R. Madhavan).
This is the heartbeat of the film. The story builds up the father-boyfriend rivalry which eventually results in ego battles, awkward confrontation, and real, heartfelt moments. Staying within the franchise theme-around love beyond age and societal judgment-the storyline adds another twist by demonstrating how both families see the relationship differently.
In ash-grounded performance, Ajay Devgn play Ashish as a man who finds it more difficult to balance love and responsibility. His chemistry with Rakul Preet is breezy as always; there are just deeper conflicts now in the maturity gap that give weight to their scenes in contrast to the first part.
The strongest asset of the film is R. Madhavan. His character brings in freshness and tension, while his confrontations with Ajay create some of the best moments in the film. Meezaan Jaffrey gets a bigger leash this time, adding to that youthful energy across the frame. Javed Jaffrey, Gautami Kapoor, and the rest of the supporting cast add to both humor and emotional balance.
Well, the screenplay does swing between extremely sharp writing and predictable choices. The first part is more or less entertaining, while the second has some scenes that are already well trodden. There is no doubt that the emotional weight with which Tabu had invested in the first part is very much missing in this one, making certain scenes rather feel lighter than intended.
Brilliant face-offs Ajay Devgan and R. Madhavan
Fresh concept with the younger father’s twist
Engaging first half tight with situational comedy
Rakul Preet, Meezaan, and the supporting cast give strong performances
Clean comedy makes it safe for family viewing

Absence of Tabu leaves an emotional void.
Predictable screenplay in the latter half
Some Portions Under-play Romance
Issues of pacing here and there
Based on keeping the soul of the original, De De Pyaar De 2 somewhere in the middle. While it scores well on strong performances and enjoyable moments, it scores little in depth and sharp writing for one-time watching.
Rating: 2.25/5 A breezy, mildly entertaining sequel that failed to deliver because of inconsistent writing and missing emotional weight.
