Telangana HC Refuses Stay on ‘DOST’ Degree Seat Allocation Notification

Telangana HC Refuses Stay on ‘DOST’ Degree Seat Allocation Notification

‘DOST’ Degree Seat Allocation Notification:

The Telangana High Court has refused to stop the DOST notification related to admissions in degree colleges. Several petitions have been filed questioning the new SC classification law. However, the court made it clear that until these cases are resolved, admissions for Scheduled Caste (SC) students cannot be stopped.

‘DOST’ Degree Seat Allocation Notification:

Two organizations Mala Mahanadu and the United Scheduled Castes Forum filed petitions against the SC classification. They requested the court to put a temporary hold on seat allocation under DOST until June 9, as the counseling process is scheduled for May 29. The petitioners argued that the new SC classification law might affect fair seat distribution.

On behalf of the Telangana government, Advocate General Sudarshan Reddy said the SC classification law is already passed and active. He argued that no temporary orders should be given against a law that is currently in force.

After hearing both sides, the bench of Justice Pulla Karthik and Justice Nandikonda Narsing Rao ruled that no stay will be given on the DOST seat allocation. The court postponed the next hearing to June 10.

In another case, the High Court gave interim protection to Mylan Laboratories in Bollaram, Sangareddy district. A recent explosion in one of their small units led the Pollution Control Board to order removal of their power connection. But Mylan’s lawyer said the blast happened due to human error in a small unit, and taking action against the whole company would be unfair. The court agreed and stopped the disconnection order temporarily.

These decisions show how the High Court is handling sensitive issues balancing legal procedures with fairness to all parties involved. Both education and industrial sectors are closely watching these cases for further developments.
