Indian Railways: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for driving Indian Railways’ remarkable transformation over the past 11 years.
“Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has implemented unprecedented reforms in the railway’s core structure over the last 11 years,” Vaishnaw said during the dedication of 103 Amrit Bharat stations in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He highlighted that the government constructed over 34,000 kilometers of rail tracks during this period.
Ashwini Vaishnaw Response:
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said India achieved an unprecedented milestone by installing more train tracks than even a developed country like Germany. “In these 11 years, India has laid more tracks than all of Germany,” he stated.
He also highlighted that under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and continuous oversight, India electrified 47,000 route kilometers (rkm). He emphasized that trains like Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat represent the new generation of railway vehicles. Over the past 11 years, Indian Railways produced 42,000 new LHB coaches by converting outdated ICF coaches to LHB models in mission mode, he added.

PM Modi Response:
The minister emphasized that under the Prime Minister’s direction, some projects have been started to raise Indian Railways to international standards for facilities and services, with a focus on comfort and safety.
Because of all these efforts, the railways are now a useful tool for our nation’s middle-class and impoverished households. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has started extensive work to build new stations and overhaul the railways. “This is the first time since independence that a prime minister, PM Narendra Mod ji, has given the railway any attention in a government,” he remarked.
