Non-Teaching Tasks Removed for Govt Teachers in AP

AP Government Teachers: Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, said that ever since the Praja Government came to power in the state, special attention has been given to solving teachers’ issues. He requested that all government teachers focus fully on learning outcomes. Minister Nara Lokesh said, “From now on, teachers will not have any non-teaching responsibilities. Focus completely on learning outcomes.”

EPTF State President Chennupati Manjula and former General Secretary Panduranga Varaprasad met Minister Lokesh at his Undavalli residence. They brought several problems faced by government teachers to his notice.

Responding to them, Lokesh said:

“In the past 17 months, 423 issues have been brought to my notice through FACTO. We have resolved 200 of them. Around 81 issues are not solvable, 72 requests fall under policy matters, and 71 issues are under court jurisdiction.”

He made it clear that, except for the Mega PTM next month, teachers will not have any other non-teaching duties this academic year. He instructed DEOs and MEOs to focus only on learning outcomes and clarified that service-rule responsibilities will not be assigned to them. Lokesh also said that the Kadapa model smart kitchens will be set up across the state.

During the meeting, EPTF leaders raised several key concerns:

TET exemption should be given to in-service teachers who joined before 2011.
A separate TET should be conducted for in-service teachers, and the cutoff marks should be reduced to 45%.
The old pension scheme should be implemented for teachers who joined service before 2003.
Central Government Memo 57 should be implemented.
Telugu medium should continue as a parallel medium in government schools.
Every mandal should have at least one Telugu medium school.
The current system of 9 types of schools should be reviewed, and classes 1 to 5 should be separated from high schools.
The long-pending issue of unified service rules should be resolved.
The system of appointing School Assistants as MEOs should be removed; only headmasters should be appointed as MEOs, including Grade-2 headmasters in Zilla Parishad schools.
Teachers from clusters with vacancies should be appointed to schools with high student numbers.
Pandit posts in ITDAs should be upgraded.
KGBV teachers should be given time-scale pay.
Service rules should be created for model school teachers, and their procedures should be aligned with government and Zilla Parishad teachers.
With exams coming up, alternative arrangements should be made for subject teacher posts that fall vacant in the 2025 transfers.
A meeting with teachers’ associations should be held every three months to discuss their issues.
Uploading marks related to assessment books has become a burden and should be reviewed.
Teachers should be exempted from non-teaching work.

The load of uploading data in apps should be reduced.
Junior Lecturer and PET posts should be filled in Plus-2 schools.
EPTF, which has a 78-year-long history, should be given membership in the Joint Staff Council.

Responding to these requests, Minister Lokesh said that the feasibility of each demand would be examined and decisions would be taken accordingly.
